Memories are those things we have, that allow us to understand why something; a picture, a word, a sound, triggers a cascade of recall in our minds.
They allow us an avenue of escape; perhaps, providing an idea on how to deal with an issue that we’re confronted with today, or it could be just a respite from the drone we’ve managed to surround ourselves with.
They allow us options, when we brood from a misspoken word during a disagreement… providing us with insight to try and repair the damage and move forward, remembering that, “we've gone through something like this once before...”
During times of sorrow, as with the loss of a loved one, we can recall those prior events that wove an individual into the tapestry of our life and would allow us to once again feel that person’s presence… and grant ourselves permission to smile again.
Unfortunately today, there seems to be a shelf life with... These marvels of self-preservation…
These… random thoughts…
These… memories…
Put them in a safe place, hold them near and write them down for when we need them the most…
Better then to allow the due date to come due.
